Ambienta SGR SpA (« Ambienta », one of Europe’s largest asset managers fully focused on environmental sustainability, is pleased to announce the acquisition of Bit4 Group S.r.l. (« Bit4ID », a technology provider specializing in digital identity and trust, headquartered in Naples, Italy. The company is particularly present in the Spanish market through Uanataca S.A., a company based in Barcelona.
Bit4ID joins the Namirial platform, leader in digital trust software and services.
Bit4IDfounded in 2004, began as a technology provider specializing in digital identity and trust, providing Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) technology, the enabling technology for digital trust services, enabling the management and use of encryption keys and associated digital certificates. More recently, building on its strong competencies, the company has expanded into the digital trust services market by becoming a qualified trust service provider providing digital signature and authentication services. In addition, Bit4ID has created an innovative new offering known as PKI as a Service (PKIaaS), providing the infrastructure and cloud-based services necessary to enable certificate authority activity, not requiring significant upfront investment.
Bit4ID’s expertise will strengthen Namirial’s technology platform, enabling vertical integration in public key infrastructure technologies and a comprehensive approach to the digital trust services market, while extending Namirial ‘s product offering with complementary solutions such as PKIaaS. Bit4ID will also bring a strong and competent R&D team, thanks to its access to a large pool of talent from highly reputable universities located in Naples and Barcelona. With its international presence, Bit4ID will further consolidate Namirial ‘s position in Spain, Latin America and Eastern Europe and will contribute to a first entry into the UK, India and other emerging markets.
FollowingAmbienta ‘s investment in Namirial in 2020, Bit4ID is the third acquisition made in the last six months. All the acquisitions have produced excellent results: Netheos has enabled the Group to enter the French market and strengthen its offering with its solutions for digitizing the process of entering into a relationship and subscribing remotely; Evicertia has helped to extend the Group’s presence in Spain and Latin America and the offering of certified communication products; Bit4ID is strengthening the Group’s technological capabilities and its international presence, including in certain key emerging markets. Thanks to the group’s strong organic growth – supported by successful targeted acquisitions – the platform now exceeds €100 million in revenue, has over 800 employees and offices in 18 countries.
Bit4ID, like Namirial, has a positive impact on the environment. Indeed, its software and services allow the digital execution of transactions, avoiding the printing of voluminous documents and travel to sign contracts. In 2021, Namirial ‘s products saved 13,680 tons of paper, 88 million liters of water and 10,690 tons of oil equivalent in energy.
